If you don’t access the greatness in all of your people then you are doing your business, your stakeholders and your people a disservice.
We define the term ‘talent’ as an individual’s natural ability, aptitude or capacity.
We don’t mean just those individuals in your organisation with the extraordinarily high intellect.
It’s not about the few. Effective talent management strategies access the talent that resides in ALL of your people - whatever the role they play.
Many business leaders view any person employed in your business as a drain on resources and overhead. Our proposition is that business leaders shouldn’t focus on the talent agenda because it seems like a good or compassionate thing to do – there is a real commercial benefit.
If you help your people be the best they can possibly be by leveraging their strengths and passions you can be sure that you’ll get a better return on investment that investing in training programmes to make them something they have little chance or motivation in becoming!
The cost of recruiting is expensive – factor in costs of agencies or headhunters, adverts, interviews, assessment centres, your time in recruiting and then the time it takes for someone to become effective in their role.
There is a 50% chance (as demonstrated in current research) that the person you hired won’t meet your performance expectations – then there’s the risk they decide to leave you as the role doesn’t live up to their aspirations. So you have to start all over again with the recruitment process!
As a result, when you don’t have your full complement of expertise you struggle to meet your business objectives! Sounds like fun?! If you find yourself asking ‘there must be a better way’ then let us steer you out of this virtuous circle.
Let's talk about your business goals and how focusing on YOUR talent agenda can help you win in YOUR market place.
